Garmin Fenix 8 tuo useita merkittäviä päivityksiä verrattuna aiempiin Fenix 7 -malleihin. Suurin muutos on AMOLED-näyttö, joka parantaa visuaalista kokemusta entistä kirkkaammalla ja värikkäämmällä 1 000 nitin näytöllä. Tämä tuo Fenix-sarjan lähemmäksi älykellojen näyttöteknologiaa. Mallista riippuen on saatavilla kolme kokoa: 43 mm, 47 mm ja 51 mm. Sapphire Solar -mallit hyödyntävät aurinkoenergiaa akun kestävyyden parantamiseen. Esimerkiksi 51 mm Fenix 8 Sapphire Solar tarjoaa jopa 24 tuntia enemmän GPS-käyttöaikaa kuin vastaava Fenix 7 -malli​.

Muita uusia ominaisuuksia ovat mikrofoni ja kaiutin, jotka mahdollistavat Bluetooth-puhelut ja offline-puhekomennot, sekä uusi Jet Lag -neuvoja, joka auttaa matkustajia mukautumaan aikavyöhykkeisiin. Lisäksi harjoittelun seurannassa on uusia työkaluja, kuten kestävyys- ja mäkipisteet, jotka analysoivat tarkemmin fyysistä suoritusta​.
Lisäksi Fenix 8 -sarjan kelloissa on tehokas LED-taskulamppu, joka tarjoaa valkoisen ja punaisen valon. 

Garmin Fenix 8 -sarjan tuotteet ovat myös sukellustietokoneita, tarjoten gauge-, nitroksi-, ilmasukellus- ja apnea-tilat.
