The difference between flotation and rescue suits is that a flotation suit is a garment with buoyant elements placed inside like a life jacket - the person in the water gets wet, but when used correctly, the flotation suit prevents sinking. A rescue suit, on the other hand, relies on tight latex or neoprene cuffs around the wrists and neck to prevent water from entering the suit.
