Exped FlexMat LW

I had been looking for a wide and long foam mat for a long time. I thought for a long time between Thermarest RidgeRest Classic Large and Expedi Flexmat LW. However, I ended up buying both due to the good aspects of both. The absolute advantage of the Flexmat is that it is quick to set up and pack compared to the rollable ones, at the same time the product in question was lighter than the rollable competitor and can be packed in a slightly smaller size. The Flexmat felt exactly as high-quality as you would expect from Expedi (I have previously owned two of their air-filled sleeping mats). Surprisingly comfortable just like that, but I mainly bought this one as additional insulation/protection under an air-filled mattress, and for other possible sitting outdoors only half-opened. We only tested this in slight frosts against cold pavement, lying in a fairly sturdy sleeping bag, and I must say that I am surprised by its functionality. I really didn't expect such good insulation and I think the extra width prevents the cold ground from blowing out of the sides very effectively. Really quick and easy to fold up and attach to the side/under the backpack with the tightening straps. I can highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates a multi-purpose and high-quality product in a larger size than a traditional foam mat. In the photo, Exped Flexmat LW on the left (Green)

Comfortable wide sleeping platform. I'm getting 2 of these to get a platform like a double bed for a 3-person tent and additional protection for the air-filled sleeping platforms. Now, it doesn't matter if your hand swells out of air at night on the cold ground.

Works as it should under a wide and thick air platform as protection.

The best cell plastic base when you need a long and wide one. The accordion model does not start rolling on its own. Even a taller hiker can lie on it.

It was very warm when installed in the midsole of the ripper (DD Hammocks XL Frontline Hammock), although there was also an underquilt as additional thermal insulation. Light and durable, although I only realized when attaching it to the backpack that the width of the FlexMat LW is slightly wider than the Savotta Jääkäri L with L-sized side pockets. That is, you may get stuck between trees if you attach the base to the backpack sideways.
