The Black Diamond Alpenglow Pro Hoody offers ultimate sun coverage as well as water resistance for mountain missions with unpredictable weather. Featuring UPF 50+ fabric, we’ve also added GTT's revolutionary Empel™ Technology, an environmentally friendly PFC-free water-repellant finish that is superior in performance compared to any other C-6, C-8, or C-0 DWR. The Alpenglow Pro also sports a ¼ zip opening for regulating body temperature, HeiQ Pure underarm mesh panels for extra breathability, a concealed chest pocket, thumb-loops, and an over-the-helmet compatible hood, making this hoody an essential layer from the desert to the alpine.

Perfect for bikepacking. The fit is rather generous, so I'd probably size down if there was an extra size to size down to. But the material has excellent elasticity, so that it still fits under close-fitted cycling vests and jackets, and there's no annoying flapping nor creases under the backpack or anywhere else. The sleeves stay up when pulled up, and most importantly the hood fits tightly enough over the helmet to keep out wind, bugs and protect neck and ears from sunburn, without affecting head mobility or visibility in any way. And again, the material doesn't stretch permanently to helmet-size, but returns to its original shape every time (which means it's equally efficient every time when pulled over the helmet). Was fine to wear for a week-long trip: if aired properly overnight, didn't get smelly or lose any of its useful properties. Fast-drying after wash (and presumably rain, too). Bought a second one right after the first trip - a spare for when one gets wet or very dirty will allow to pack very little clothing for even longer trips.
