Pompero on melkeinpä synonyymi suomalaiselle lohen pinturoinnille. Monille piinkoville lohestajille nimittäin riittää pelkkä Pompero ainoaksi pintaperhoksi pohjoisen reissuille, suuntautuivat ne sitten kotimaahan, Norjaan tai Venäjälle – toimii pieniltä tittijoilta Tenolle. Useimmiten pelittää vapaalla uitolla, mutta viistättäminen ja havaitun kalan näkökenttään takominen kuuluvat myös työkalupakkiin. Sidottu Partridge CS42 -koukkuun.
