The Modlite PLHv2-18350 Complete Light offers an exceptional balance of flood and throw, making it ideal for rifle-mounted applications. This package includes a PLHv2 light head, 18350 body, tail cap, a single Modlite 1200mAh 18350 battery, and an XTAR MC2 charger. With a lumen output comparable to the Surefire M600DF head but with over three times the throw, this light is a significant upgrade from the PLHv1 model. The flashlight was tested during night shooting, so I can share the following observations: 1) The 18350 cell size is more than sufficient at the shooting range. In practice, the flashlight is not kept on 'turned on' mode (to avoid revealing your position). If needed, you can have a spare cell in your backpack. The declared total runtime of ~35 minutes seems accurate (tested in home conditions). 2) The power of the PLHv2 flashlight is maintained even towards the end of the cell’s discharge. Unlike competitors, where the flashlight’s power decreases as the battery charge level drops. 3) Solid construction, you can feel the quality in your hands. 4)Relatively low weight with the cell and takes up little space on the 14.5" rail. 5)) FLASHLIGHT POWER: I had a comparison with, among others, the HL-X Pro, head-to-head. Despite similar specifications (candela), the HL-X Pro was pale and did not illuminate targets as solidly from a distance of >50 m. In fact, already at a distance of 25 meters, I could clearly see the difference between those lights, in favor of the PLHv2. The PLHv2 allows for very clear target identification at 50 m, and if someone wants to use it at >200 m, it also illuminates the target solidly. The perfect combination of floodlight - providing situational awareness, and beam pattern, illuminating the center of the light field at both close and distant ranges. Cons: 1) price ;) 2) I have a dual-fuel light head, but with 18350 body light, you cannot run it on a single CR123A battery, you need to buy 18650 light body and use 2 x CR123a batteries. But I have spare 18350 batteries in a backpack, so it is not a big issue.

Modlite head is a balance of throw (distance) and flood, with a defined hot spot whicu makes it useful in particular for outdoor use. I only wish i could use standard cr123 batteries in it. It would also be nice if modlite offered dual white light and IR models, like Surefire.
