It is warmer, lighter and thicker than the previous model, which is why the XTherm NXT cements the legacy of being the go-to sleeping pad for alpinists, mountaineers and extreme cold expeditions. At 3-inches thick, with horizontal baffles, all-night comfort and support are at hand, while 70D nylon on the bottom ensures the XTherm NXT holds up to extended expedition use. The WingLock Valve allows for rapid inflation and deflation but is also intuitive and easy to use in frigid weather when the gloves are not coming off. This sleeping pad is very lightweight and folds easily into its stuff sack. It holds air perfectly – absolutely no deflation overnight. It also provides great insulation – I tested it at +2°C with a quilt (not even a full sleeping bag), and I was completely warm and comfortable. The only downside is the inflation process: I used the included pump sack, which worked but took quite a while. I hope to get a small pump for it soon. Highly recommended!
