Going solo doesn’t have to mean a tiny tent and a heavy pack. The ultralight, semi-freestanding FreeLite is for people who want to lighten their base weight without sacrificing space or features so they can make the most of three-season adventures.
The Inside: Though it still has the true rectangular floor (no foot taper like most other tents) and 1.00 metre (39 in.) of headroom (7.6 cm more than before), it’s 170 grams (6 oz.) lighter than the previous 1-person FreeLite. A waterproof bathtub-style floor protects from the elements, and the micromesh tent body provides excellent ventilation. A no-curve tent door has new zippers that are more durable and easy to use with one hand. They also zip closed to a single point so you always know where to open the door, even in the dark. New tech-friendly pockets feature cable ports at the corners for headphone and charging cords. Overhead gear loft pockets are perfect for headlamps, sunglasses and other quick-access items.
The Outside: The semi-freestanding design is quick and easy to set up. Super strong DAC NFL tent poles, a DuraShield waterproof coating and taped seams keep the weather where it belongs—outside. The cutaway rainfly saves weight and features a large vestibule for storing any gear you don’t want inside. The easy in-and-out vestibule door has a StayDry rain gutter to keep water from dripping onto you and your gear.
The Bottom Line: The semi-freestanding solo FreeLite provides the camp comfort you need after putting down the miles at a weight you won’t even notice.

The weight was as described and fits into a small space. The air changes well at night, because the roof of the inner tent is just mesh. On the other hand, moisture condenses on the inner surface of the outer tent at night, at least in calm weather, because the rain cover does not have any ventilation holes in the roof. There is plenty of room for one person in the tent and you can put on your shoes while sitting with your feet in the vestibule. The vestibule is also large enough for essential items. It is worth practicing setting up so that you can get the job done as quickly as possible in the rain. The inner tent is set up first and the rain cover is pulled over it.
