Saimaa Kayaks' inflatable Expedition 1 is a small, fast, high-quality and directional stable kayak. Expedition 1 is the stiffest model of inflatable kayaks and a good choice even for more experienced paddlers. The edges and bottom of the kayak are made with the dropstitch structure familiar from SUP boards, which is very stiff and durable. With this structure, the kayak is as close to the stiffness and glide of hard kayaks as an inflatable kayak can be, because a minimal amount of energy is spent on bending the hull. A narrower profile, removable fin and V-shaped hard plastic bow and stern reinforcements keep the kayak perfectly on course and the kayak cuts through the water like a hot knife through butter! The bow and stern reinforcements also split the wave better and make it easier to land by absorbing the impacts. A handy fold-up splash guard on the bow cover helps keep the waves out.

The kayak floor is covered on top with a durable EVA (cellular plastic) coating, which protects the floor and prevents slipping when getting in and out of the kayak.
