Two-way messages
You can send and receive text messages of up to 1,600 characters directly on the device. In the clear user interface of the smartphone's Garmin Messenger application, you can easily exchange text, picture, voice and group messages with your loved ones.
Seamless connection
Optimized inReach messages work over the smartphone's mobile network when available. On the other hand, when you leave the reach of the mobile network, the connection switches seamlessly to the global Iridium® satellite network.
Group messages
Your inReach connection supports chaining and distribution of group messages via the Garmin Messenger application. Thus, you can share your adventures with several contacts at the same time and chat with your loved ones via group text messages.
Interactive SOS alerts
In an emergency, you can send an interactive SOS message to the Garmin Response center, which is an always open emergency service coordination center.
Location sharing
Share your location with your family at any time using the MapShare page or GPS coordinates embedded in messages.
Flexible satellite contracts
To use the global Iridium network and communicate with the inReach Messenger Plus device, an active satellite service subscription is required. You can choose an annual contract or a flexible monthly contract.

The inReach Messenger Plus device's high-quality MIP (memory-in-pixel) display shows you that the message has been sent. You can also read the answers directly from the device.
Check messages
You can check the status of contacts directly from the inReach Messenger Plus device through an active satellite subscription with check messages that do not count against your message quota.
Other Garmin devices
You can remotely use your inReach Messenger Plus device to send or receive text messages or send an interactive SOS message with a compatible Garmin handheld, boating or aviation device, wearable device, or certain other smart device.
InReach weather forecast service
Get detailed weather updates on your inReach Messenger Plus device or a paired compatible device. You can even request weather forecasts for your current location or any other waypoint or destination.
Tracback routing
If you happen to get lost, the TracBack routing function guides you along the same route to the starting point - directly with the help of the device.
