Product description
Translated by GoogleShow original

Kuusamo shared forest Freeride snowmobile permit: Maaninka plot approximately 4,600 ha.

The permit area has diverse wilderness landscapes for snowmobiling. The area contains many types of forest and also many open bogs and slopes. Note: Lake Matalajärvi, located in the northern part of the permit area, is a heavily regulated fish breeding lake, and its ice is dangerous for snowmobilers. Snowmobiling is not allowed on the ice or shore of Lake Matalajärvi at all.

Please ensure that the conditions in the area are suitable for freeride sledding before purchasing a permit. The snow cover in Kuusamo this early winter has been thinner than usual and the ice cover on the lakes is exceptionally uneven.

The permit is personal. The number of sledders is limited by a daily sales quota.

The boundaries of the permit area can be downloaded to your phone, for example, to the free Tracker application (Google Play / AppStore) using the My Game IDs, which are displayed on the permit map (in Tracker, Maps-My Game-add Area ID).

Driving and parking instructions
The road leading to the permit area from the north has been plowed, including the parking area. Kuusamo Forestry is not responsible for plowing the roads coming from the south.

More detailed weatherproof outdoor maps showing permit areas can be purchased from the Kuusamo Public Forest office at arja.mustonen@kuusamonyhteimestsa.fi or by phone at 040 750 0026.

With a freeride permit, you can also ride on other than marked trails and tracks, but only if you do not cause damage to nature. When sledding, you must be especially careful with trees and animals; for example, in small stands of saplings where the length of the tree is less than 5 meters, riding is absolutely prohibited. A small stand of saplings can be invisible below the surface of the snow, making it particularly vulnerable to damage, and riding in these stands is absolutely prohibited! Saplings, like other stands, are of great economic importance to the landowner, so respect the landowner's property. Destruction of a sapling or other forest owner's property results in liability for compensation.

Driving all animals is strictly prohibited and must not cause any harm to reindeer herding. There are roads in the permit area that are occasionally plowed in winter.

The Kuusamo Community Forest operates forestry in its areas all year round and snowmobilers must always park their cars in a way that allows a timber truck to pass them. If the snowmobiler causes damage to the landowner or a third party through their actions, they are personally liable for the damage.

Snowmobiling in the permit area is always at the snowmobiler's own risk. The permit area has diverse terrain, so there are also many potential hazards for snowmobilers. Dangerous situations can arise from, for example, steep slopes, weak ice, and rocks or stumps under the snow and other obstacles. Keep driving speeds moderate, wear a helmet and other protective equipment, track your location on the map, and always try to snowmobil with a friend! Take snowshoes, warm clothing, and snacks with you in case your snowmobile breaks down.

Unauthorized sledding is always reported to the police. A permit must be carried with you when sledding in the countryside.

Freeride sledding in the areas is monitored. If inappropriate behavior is observed in the permit area, the sale of permits for the area can be stopped completely and the area closed to sledding. You are responsible for the continuity of freeride activities!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BUYING PERMITS

  • Enter the number of drivers in the "quantity" field and select the desired day.
  • Write the names (first and last name) of the license holders in the "Names of license holders" section. There should be as many names of license holders as there are snowmobile drivers.
  • If you want to purchase permits for multiple drivers for multiple days, add the number of drivers in the "quantity" field and select a day.

The driving permit is in electronic format and will be sent to the email address provided. Always check the content of the order confirmation (date, area and names of the permit holders).

The order confirmation serves as a driving permit, so print it out and take it with you when you drive.

NOTE: Toboggan permits are only reserved after you have pressed the Submit Order button at checkout. If permits are sold out for the products in your shopping cart while you are preparing your order, the permits will not be purchased.

Please note that purchased permits cannot be returned, changed or exchanged. The name of the permit holder cannot be changed afterwards.
