I was looking for a jacket that would work for hiking, ski touring, mountaineering and other high-activity activities in cooler weather, between +10 and -10. The goal was to find a jacket that was durable, would block the wind and withstand some water, but would breathe. With Goretex, you can easily overheat in such activities. Gamma has lived up to its claims really well. The material feels durable, but time will tell. The breathability is really good, I have even done runs in the winter with this jacket while preparing for NUTS. The jacket is very wind and weather resistant and dries quickly. And an absolute plus is that it has little thermal value. Layering is much easier with this jacket than, for example, the more robust MX version. I walk quite warm myself and often have a backpack on my back anyway. I think it is the perfect jacket for this purpose. And it's also really nice that when the weather gets bad you can throw a gore or a parka directly on top of this. I'm 186cm/91kg with an athletic build and the L size is just right. The jacket isn't too big for just a t-shirt/layer, but it also fits well under fleece.
