I have extensive experience with this type of socks and currently own around 15 pairs of Darn Tough socks in various models, which I have used for many years. They have been used very often, even in professional practice, and I have never had any problems with pilling or deterioration in quality. However, these socks started pilling after the first wash, which I find very unusual. The washing was done exactly according to the instructions: the socks were washed inside out, with wool detergent, the right temperature and gentle handling. Despite this, pilling clearly occurred immediately after the first wash. Given my previous very good experience with Darn Tough, this seems unusual, and I therefore wonder if it could be a defect in this particular batch or model.
