This is my second pair of Meindl's, the first being the Guffert. I like the Borneo, but prefer the Guffert. I used the Guffert's daily for years, loved the fit and feel. The Borneo's are a good fit, but a lower cut with a bit less support. Overall I am happy with them, but prefer the Guffert. Evaluating Meindl boots is kind of a non starter though, excellent in all respects. My thoughts -Guffert a 5 out of 5, the Borneo 4.5

I’ve had these for about a week and have been breaking them in. They are the first ‘all leather’ boots I have had for a number of years. I bought them as I did not want a Goretex lined boot as they take an age to dry once wet inside. These Borneo’s are leather lined and beautifully made. They have broken in over the course of a week with around 15-20 kms of hiking and general wear around. I gave them a wax which they absorbed quickly. No issues at all with water ingress. They are comfy after the initial break in period. Not overly stiff. I would buy Meindl boots again
I tested the product for 3 years; about 10,000 km and then they needed to be replaced.
After approximately 5,000 km, the sole was replaced at the heels.
I have not maintained these shoes and have never greased them.
I'll do that differently now (my good intention) and see how long they last :-)
I have always run on Dutch surfaces (and maybe 5% of the time in the Austrian Alps).
