Suitable for use in temperatures down to -5C, the DD Underblanket works to prevent heat loss from beneath you. Hang it under your hammock, and feel the warmth generated in minutes for a cosy night's sleep! In our opinion, this is the best hammock insulation for a cold night in the wilds!
How does it work?
In hammock camping, the majority of heat loss is from below due to your body weight compressing your clothing or the loft in your sleeping bag. The DD Hammock Underblanket combats this by hanging below your hammock so the loft is not compressed, creating a pocket of air warmed by your body heat. It should be hung with a little slack to gently 'hug' the hammock when you're inside, to achieve the warmest insulation.
Our DD Underblanket is 2m long, so will provide near full-length insulation for most people. We recommend setting it up with a little bias towards your head.

The DD Underblanket is compatible with all our hammocks produced since 2012. Ordinarily its cords can be clipped onto the small tabs along the sides of your hammock.
If using with the SuperLight Jungle, Scout and XL Frontline or any other hammocks without side tabs - hang your underblanket from these models using just the four elastics at the ends, then draw in the sides. Or alternatively, fix the remaining cords to the four large side tabs meant for the curved poles.

Not the best, but for the price, a very good pad. At least 5 degrees kept my back warm. It could be higher on the sides, but I thought I would use rubber bands to make it a little higher. A good interim blanket while waiting for better down. They will still have a budget.

Tested for a couple of nights in the autumn forest, at a temperature of about 8-10 degrees. Keeps warm well and has been able to sleep well at night. The product is easy to install and also works well in Tokmanni's mosquito net (Vaeltaja) hammock, as long as you adjust the strings and tension a little.
In terms of size, this basic model is a little too small for me. I'm 186 cm and sometimes my neck or legs slipped a few centimeters over the edge of the under blanket and got cold, so if I had to choose now, I'd end up with the XL model, but yes, this one will also work if you don't turn around terribly in your sleep.
An excellent product where price and quality meet. If you are over 185cm, I recommend the XL model.
