The Laikko combines the advantages of a modern glove in a nutshell: It features a sporty-slender cut, fits like a second skin, offers a reliable grip on the ski pole, and provides effective climate management while protecting against wind and cold. This makes the Laikko a more than worthy successor to the legendary Landas.
The success material Roeck-Grip® is used on the palm. It provides extreme grip while being tactile, highly breathable and elastic. In short: It offers outstanding wear comfort and a safe grip for firmly planting the ski pole. For the backhand, glove specialist Roeckl Sports uses absolutely windproof Gore-Tex Infinium™ Windstopper® Soft Shell Elastic, which guarantees an effective humidity management even during intense sports activities, keeping your hands dry and warm. A warming lining provides additional comfort on cold days.
Furthermore, integrated Comfort-Innovation, a seamless padding, protects the pressure-sensitive crook of the thumb to avoid soreness from repeated pole plants. An easy closure fastener on the palm secures the glove around the wrist.
As all Roeckl cross-country skiing gloves, the Laikko is also machine-washable at 30° Celsius (86° Fahrenheit).

I get these as replacements for previous Roeckl gloves. They lasted skiing and biking for four years until I lost them. I think the quality has remained the same. The good thing about gloves is that they don’t harden when dried into crumbs in the same way as supermarket faux leather ski gloves in supermarkets. The inside has a substantial rubber-like material ensures a good grip. The base between the thumb and forefinger has extra padding to reduce the pressure produced by the ski pole. The manufacturer selection is still warmer than gloves, but I ite survived by a -15 ° C freezer. However, these have goretex and wind protection. Warmer gloves tend to sweat too much.
The sizing instructions on the Roeckl page are exciting. I would have ended up with gloves smaller than the number 8.5, where the fingertips would have hit the tips of the gloves. Normally I wear sizes 9-9.5 in work gloves. After fitting these in a sports shop, I ended up with a size of 9.5. Strong recommendation for brand products.
