The year of 1997: It was a time when the blockbuster film “Titanic” was showing in cinemas, Tony Blair was celebrating his election victory in the United Kingdom and the German football team Schalke 04 was revelling in its UEFA Cup championship. It was also a time of transformation at LOWA. Werner Riethmann and his development team were busy thinking about a new way to produce hiking boots and make them lighter in the process. The foundation for a new way to produce hiking boots was laid by the leisure-time and running area. For the first time in the company’s history, LOWA produced a shoe that was directly injected and not cemented – the RENEGADE was born.

Excellent shoes, they fit well and do not rub at all even on the first trips. The quality impression in the materials is better than in several brand shoes of the same price category. I ended up with these after trying about 20 different shoes and I've been wearing them for a couple of weeks now in slightly different weather. Based on this, I can recommend.

16.6 km run-in for shoes performed in really diverse, partly challenging terrain here in the nature of Lapland. This hiking terrain included e.g. even deeper wetlands, snowy spots, rhizomes and stony footpaths, big boulders on the fells, flat terrain, climbs, stairs, long ynänmu, and Lowat coped with the trials brilliantly. My feet didn't get wet and I didn't get blisters. Looks like I'll make good hiking buddies out of these.
I chose a size 40. I normally wear a 39, but this size is fine in these.
The shoes I ordered now are the third, because I bought the first ones back in 2006, so they have lasted well all year round and the fit of the shoes only gets better as they get older. The only downside is that the knits come off in the fold of the big toe, so a cobbler has been needed.
