Akun paras mahdollinen suorituskyky varmistetaan ylikuumenemissuojalla sekä ylilatauksen ja ylipurkautumisen estävällä suojauspiirillä. Akussa ei esiinnyt ns. haitallista varauksen muisti-ilmiötä joten lataaminen on huoletonta. Akussa on erittäin alhainen varaustilan itsepurkaumisaste vaikka sitä säilytettäisiin käyttämättömänä pitkiäkin aikoja. Olight RCR123 Li-ion akkukenno onkin erinomainen virtalähde silloin kun virrankulutus on suurta ja valaisinta käytetään pitkiäaikoja sen maksimiteholla.
