TEMPERATURE RANGE
The usage temperature range of TPU is very wide. As suit material it softens in +70º C, for a shorter time in +120º C. It also stands low temperatures down to -45º C.
HYDROLYSIS TOLERANCE
TPU has been stored in water for several years without any influence and without any weakening effect on the mechanical properties of the material.
OIL AND SOLVENT RESISTANCE
TPU is chemically resistant to (non-polar) solvents like hexane and heptanes. Mineral oils like diesel oil and lubricants do not harm the material. Some synthetic oils may
damage the TPU. Toluene and acetone soften the TPU surface. Tetrahydrophrane,
methylethylketone and dimetylformamide may partly of fully destroy TPU.
MICROORGANIC RESISTANCE
TPU is very durable against microorganisms, but the colour of the material may change. The mechanical properties are not weakened. The enclosure presents the test results of different types of dry suit materials.
