A well-waxed ski is a skier’s best friend. Glide doesn’t happen by chance—it’s the result of the right waxing products and careful work. Whether you’re an active recreational skier or a competitive racer, proper waxing ensures your skis glide smoothly in all conditions.

1. Clean your skis thoroughly

Before you move on to actual waxing, the most important step is cleaning the ski base. It may seem minor, but a clean base significantly improves wax absorption and glide performance. CLEAN & GLIDE effectively removes dirt and creates a hard, dirt-repellent surface that enhances glide wax performance.

Instructions:

• Shake the bottle well
• Apply the product to the glide zone
• Wipe clean with a Vauhti polishing cloth
• Brush with a nylon brush after 1–2 minutes
• Repeat until the cloth stays clean

Tip: Wrap the polishing cloth around the brush and brush the wet base—this enhances the cleaning effect even further.

2. Protect the base with a base wax

Once the ski is clean, it’s time to protect the base. UP-series waxes are designed especially for active skiers and racers. In addition to protecting the base, they also improve glide.

UP UNIVERSAL (temperature range +5/-10 °C) is an excellent choice for training and base preparation of new or freshly ground skis. UP POLAR is suitable for all conditions and is aimed especially at racers, as it improves race wax durability. Use liquid in warm and wet conditions, solid in cold and dry conditions.

3. Wax for top-level glide

When race-level durability and maximum glide matter, choose RACE LDR and RACE series waxes.

RACE LDR acts as a link between the ski base and the glide wax. It improves durability and also performs well on its own in variable snow conditions.

Liquid wax or powder?

Liquid waxes are popular among recreational and fitness skiers thanks to their ease of use. They’re ideal for everyday skiing when you want reliable glide quickly and with minimal effort. Powder waxes, on the other hand, represent the pinnacle of glide waxing and are used especially in racing and demanding conditions. They require careful base preparation but reward you with the best possible glide when every second counts.

How to apply powder wax:

• Apply the powder evenly over the entire glide zone.
• Melt the powder into the base with an iron at 150–180 °C.
• Move the iron along the base at a speed that allows the powder to melt completely.
• Let the skis cool thoroughly and lightly scrape off excess wax.
• Brush with a metal brush, continue with a horsehair brush, and finish with a nylon brush until the base has an even, glossy finish.

4. Finish with a topcoat in wet conditions

In wet and moist snow conditions with high relative humidity, a special topcoat is needed. TOP RACE RED is designed specifically for these conditions.

Instructions:

• Shake the bottle well
• Spray over the entire glide zone
• Spread with a synthetic cork (fleece)
• Let dry
