Proper maintenance of wool garments is essential to keep them in good condition and comfortable for long-term use. The first step is always to check the garment's care instructions, as wool clothing may require special attention.
Often, wool garments do not need washing because wool is naturally antibacterial. Airing them out in fresh air can be enough to remove odors and refresh the garment. If washing is necessary, hand washing in lukewarm water is recommended. Use a detergent specifically designed for wool, which is gentle on the fibers. If the garment's care instructions allow machine washing, select the wool wash program and a maximum temperature of 30°C. During washing, avoid rubbing or wringing the garment, as this can damage the fibers. Gently squeeze out the water instead.
Wool garments should be dried flat to prevent stretching or losing their shape. Place the garment on a towel and roll the towel gently to absorb excess water. Then, lay the garment flat to dry. If ironing is necessary, use a low temperature and steam, but do not press the iron! It is advisable to place a damp cloth over the garment while ironing to avoid direct contact with the hot iron, which can scorch the wool's surface. It is recommended to store wool garments protected from stretching and pests, such as in sealed storage boxes or bags.
