How to choose the right Hilleberg tent

户外运动, Trekking, How to choose -guides by Varuste.net / Toimisto-Jorma, 17.8.2020

Hilleberg tents are divided into four product families based on, for example, materials, lightness, purpose, and suitability to different seasons.

Hilleberg Black Label product family

The tents of the Black Label product family are made of Hilleberg’s strongest materials. They are suitable for every season, every terrain, and every condition. These tents are strong, robust, spacious, and easy to use. They are the best choice for a base and camp tent. Since the tents are made of strong and durable materials, their weight is a little bit higher.

Made of the strongest materials:

  • Kerlon 1800 tent fabric (High Tenacity Ripstop Nylon 66)
    • Water column: 5500 mm/54 kPa (ISO 811)
    • Tear resistance: min. 18 kg (ISO 13937-4)
  • 10 mm tent poles
  • 3 mm guylines
  • Strong and durable inner tent (40 Denier Ripstop Nylon)
  • Strong and durable floor material (100 Denier Nylon)
  • Heavy-Duty zippers
  • Durable Y-pegs

Suitable for the hardest conditions:

  • The outer tent fabric reaches the ground and gives protection even in winter conditions
  • Same-sized poles make it easier to set up a tent during blizzards, for example
  • Several ventilation openings – guarantee breathability even if the tent was partly buried under snow
  • Spacious inner space for changing and drying clothes

Hilleberg Red Label product family

The tents of the Red Label product family are suitable for short and long trips. These tents are a little bit lighter than Black Label tents. They are the best choice for a general-purpose tent for every season, if you want a strong and robust but still light general-purpose tent.

Strong but lighter materials:

  • Kerlon 1200 tent fabric (30 D High Tenacity Ripstop Nylon 66)
    • Water column: 5000 mm/49 kPa (ISO 811)
    • Tear resistance: min. 12 kg (ISO 13937-4)
  • 9 mm tent poles
  • 3 mm guylines
  • Lighter inner tent (30 Denier Ripstop Nylon)
  • Lighter floor material (70 Denier Nylon)
  • Lighter zippers
  • V-pegs, durability and lightness in the same spike

User-friendliness and comfort in every condition:

  • The outer tent fabric reaches the ground and gives protection even in winter conditions
  • Different-sized poles in some models reduce the total weight
  • At least one ventilation opening in the ceiling or at the edge of the ceiling
  • Spacious inner space

Hilleberg Yellow Label product family

The tents of the Yellow Label product family are the best choice if lightness is your first priority. These tents are suitable for snowless seasons and/or high snowless mountains.

Made of the most lightweight materials:

  • Light Kerlon 1000 tent fabric (20 D High Tenacity Ripstop Nylon 66)
    • Water column: 5000 mm/49 kPa (ISO 811)
    • Tear resistance: min. 8 kg (ISO 13937-4)
  • 9 mm tent poles
  • 2 mm guylines
  • Light inner tent (10 Denier Ripstop Nylon)
  • Light floor material (50 Denier Nylon)
  • Light zippers

Suitable for warm and snowless conditions:

  • The outer tent fabric does not reach the ground, so you can air the tent from the bottom but will not have protection against snow
  • Different-sized poles in some models minimize the total weight
  • Large mesh fabrics in the inner tent are light and guarantee good ventilation
  • Inner space is smaller – less material, lighter package

Yellow Label product family includes:

Hilleberg Blue Label product family

The tents of the Blue Label product family are bigger camp tents which combine the best Hilleberg innovations and solutions. The tents are designed, the materials are chosen, and the tents are manufactured usually for one purpose or a special assignment.
