Ergonomically designed for packing according to the dog's size. Leather and 1000-denier-coated nylon fabric as well as solid seams make the TOGO very durable. How old must the dog be to carry a backpack?

It is best that the dog is grown close to adult size so that you can choose a size of backpack that will fit forever. But an empty backpack does not weigh much more than a thick blanket, so getting the dog used to having something on its back with low weight is only positive. You must expect that you will first be able to have a good carrying capacity with a backpackfrom the dog is 1 1/2 years old.

How heavy a backpack can the dog carry?

It is a lot up to you as a dog owner, how you work with your dog from an early age. Is the dog used to walking and is a healthy and strong dog? Have you been good at developing your dog with walks in varied terrain? Large dogs develop more slowly than small dogs. Remember to always start carefully with weight when you start up with a backpack. Look at how the dog is doing, if you see that it is heavy it is too much weight. If the dog walks with ease and light steps, then you can put on a bit more. As mentioned in the section above, your dog must be grown before you can load with a certain weight. A rule of thumb is that a very well trained dog can carry up to 25% of its own body weight, if the terrain is light and the trip is not too long. There is a big difference between walking in flat terrain than if you walk in rough terrain and with climbs. Use common sense and remember that you know your dog best, so pay close attention and read the signals your dog gives.

How to choose the right size of backpack for your dog? (See size chart)

1. Measure the dog from the elbow, over the back and down to the elbow on the other side. The tip of the elbow is the upper visible joint on the front legs.
2. If the size of the dog matches the stated size of the backpack, you have the correct size.
3. If the measurement of your dog is in the middle between two sizes, you should consider your use of the backpack – Is it for small trips where the dog should carry just a bit of equipment, we have experience that most people are most satisfied with the smaller of the two sizes. If you are considering longer walks with a lot of packing, and the dog is well trained and has a decent ground clearance, you can choose the larger of the two sizes. Ground clearance means that the dog has a certain height which means that it does not subber the backpack too far down towards the ground, rocks and vegetation.
