Designed as a smaller version of Patagonias iconic Black Hole® MLC® and built with recycled materials and a recycled TPU laminate, this travel-savvy, soft-sided 26-liter backpack converts to a duffel or a shoulder bag with plenty of room to keep you moving. Meets strict carry-on requirements.
- Built with recycled materials and a recycled TPU laminate; designed for shorter trips or regional aircraft with tighter carry-on requirements
- Large main compartment with two interior organization pockets; pack volume is 30 liters
- Dedicated space for tech storage that fits most 16" laptops, with room for documents and cords; laptop carrier zips open and lies flat for easy TSA compliance
- Three carrying configurations allow bag to be used as a backpack, a shoulder bag or a duffel, and all straps tuck away when not in use; padded, stowable hip belt takes weight off the shoulders in backpack mode and doubles as the shoulder strap in briefcase mode
- External lash points and compression straps accommodate even more gear and can be used for other carrying configurations

— Show originalIt’s great. It lives up to the name "Black Hole," as it holds far more gear than other backpacks of the same size; the zippers open fully, creating conveniently shaped compartments for your items. The zippers and other materials feel high-quality, as you would expect.

— Show originalI have to give it a 5/5 because, in nearly 20 years of backpacking, it’s the best backpack I’ve ever tried. It’s not quite perfect, though. It has passed as the smallest category of carry-on luggage without any issues (like almost all soft-sided bags). It holds enough gear for a 2–3 week trip to Asia or a 2-week summer trip to Europe. However, the pack is designed for business travel; the laptop compartment is unnecessarily bulky for "regular" travel, where you’d typically carry far less electronics. That compartment takes up space and adds unnecessary weight if you aren't carrying a laptop, as you can't really pack anything else in there sensibly. That said, it works well for daily hauling—especially if you're carrying multiple laptops, gym gear, and so on. Its water resistance is a huge plus, meaning you don't have to dig out a rain cover every time there's a shower. The backpack stands upright on the ground without support, which is important. The pockets and handles are excellently designed, and the mesh water bottle pocket makes life easier. It is very comfortable to carry, even for long periods. Patagonia’s experience in bag design really shows here, with particular attention paid to details that are essential for travel.| Overall rating |
