Because I’ve always believed more in natural materials like wool and cotton, I’ve never been much of a fan of fleece jackets and sweaters. But for the Patagonia Retro-X I’m willing to make an exception. Since this fleece jacket has a windstopper, I wanted to give it a try, and a few years ago I bought my first Retro-X. I don’t live in Finland, but during winter hikes, winter camping in a tent, and especially on long walks with the dogs in harsh winter weather, I have to admit that here in the Netherlands you can easily get through the entire winter with this jacket: it’s warm, windproof, even water-resistant, and above all extremely lightweight. I now wear it all the time in cold and rainy weather, wet snow, but also in milder autumn temperatures with the zipper open—it stays remarkably comfortable. By now I own my second Retro-X. I still prefer investing in a (responsibly made) wool sweater or a good wool coat over fleece, but nevertheless, if you’re looking for a fleece jacket with bunker-level performance for tough conditions, I can wholeheartedly recommend this Patagonia.

not exactly what I've been expecting, a little bit too rigid for my taste. Retro Pile much better in the same category.

I'm very happy with this jacket... Very warm and versatile. Great for cold days, and has a wind protection layer to help the wind not to pierce. Great look and aesthetic as well.. Patagonia make a great jacket, very well rounded. Make sure you check the Patagonia sizing chart to find your best fitl.
