Men's micro crew socks average 8.5 in. from heel to cuff - expect them to show about 6 in. above a low hiking shoe or just above a standard hiking boot.

— Show originalThe socks worked well on the first 150km hike. My shoes and socks were practically constantly wet, but the sock held its shape. Unlike some socks, these don't have heavy side seams. They didn't completely prevent chafing, but that's not just down to the sock.
The footbed padding is Darn Tough's average, but feels quite thick to me. This didn't really seem like a problem, but it was a bit surprising.

Great quality socks, size runs large. 41 - 43 are too large for my feet that are usually between 40-41 (my current hoka shoes are 41 1/4)

These socks are great. Love their feel, the fact that it's Merino makes it a comfortable and non/less stinky sock 😁. Sturdy and tight woven, yet soft — which means you get some extra miles on them in luxurious comfort.
