Primus Mimer

The Primus Mimer certainly isn't the best in its class. While it is lightweight, the flame goes out even in a light breeze. Consequently, it consumes a lot of gas if used without a windscreen. The valve can easily remain slightly open, so it is worth sniffing the air nearby to ensure it is fully closed between cooking sessions.

An affordable, simple, and reliable stove. It has a sturdy pot support; both small and large pots or pans fit well. I use the Mimer daily with a small, 4-cup moka pot. About every two years, the flame adjustment screw/needle needs to be removed and cleaned because the flame control stops working properly—the gas doesn't flow right. Residue—apparently from the gas or canisters—builds up on the needle. The flame needs to be shielded from the wind to prevent it from going out.

A well-functioning, larger burner. Primus is a quality product.

A simple and robust basic stove. Gives a nice even and wide flame. However, it is not the most compact and lightest version.

It felt clumsy compared to the previous minimalist stove; the flame would probably have been wider, so not as pointy, but packing the stove into a small space was impossible without dismantling it, so it went for return.

Excellent price-quality ratio. It's well suited for extra cooking jobs in the back of the car. For backpacking, I would buy a lighter / smaller one.

Light and small kettle, in Lapland in windy weather, however, I wasn't quite satisfied, gas was consumed much more than in Trangia. You should get your own dedicated cooking pot.
