VJ Maxx 2: I wear size 46 in Salomon and La Sportiva, size 45 in the Decathlon Kiprun, which corresponds to a size 44.5 in the VJ Maxx. It's true, they have a monstrous grip, a comfortable shoe, a roomy fit, and an excellent midsole. Cons: The material around the ankle tends to be abrasive on the skin, even with socks. I'm resolving this by applying grease to the inside edge of the shoe. It's not very draining: small holes need to be made to drain water because it tends to stay inside. I imagine it won't be very breathable in the heat. In any case, it's a truly excellent shoe for racing.

The shoes themselves are absolutely incredible! When I run on slippery rocks it's like I'm glued to the ground! It's actually the worst grip I've ever experienced. My 6000Nok expensive hunting boots can't compare... And the fit of the shoe is like they were made just for me. Absolutely incredible, 10/10 shoes. Very nice bouncy ride, awesome grip even on very steep hills. Holds the foot super securely. In short - perfect shoe for running on difficult terrain, although runs OK even on pavement.

I've worn VJ shoes a lot, but I found a new favorite pair here. The size numbering is at least half a size wrong compared to other VJ shoes, as described.

The shoes fit perfectly on the foot thanks to the soft heel cup and the shock absorption is sufficient for at least a half marathon trail run. The grip on rocks and various types of trails is the best possible, but you shouldn't rely on the grip on wet tree roots. If water gets into the shoe, it doesn't drain very well, apparently because there is a rim on each side at the junction of the upper and the sole that keeps the water inside and doesn't let it drain/pump out like in some shoes. Of course, water also stays out longer in these shoes and I guess it's a matter of taste whether you want your socks to get wet and dry faster or slower.
