Many modern chains feature a "master link" (also called a "quick link" or "power link") that enables the chain to be installed and removed without the need to drive out a rivet. The MLP-1.2 Master Link Pliers make the removal and replacement of these master links quick and easy. Simply insert the specially-shaped jaws into the master link, then squeeze the handles to open the link or pull the handles to close it.
Compatible with 5-to-12-speed derailleur chains that use a master link, including SRAM eTap AXS and Shimano XTR® 12-speed.
NOTE! The MLP-1.2 will not remove or install master links that have both pins attached to one plate and a side plate or spring clip that clips onto the pins.
These types of master links are commonly found on older drivetrain systems or single-speed bicycles. To remove these types of master links, use needlenose pliers such as the Park Tool NP-6.
