Hanwag Tashi

The legends are true, these boots are awesome. I swapped my GTX Lowa Rangers for these, and I don't think I'll ever go back to GTX unless I'm going days in the snow. Break in period was very modest (10kms or so), and no blisters, which I'm prone to getting. I'm planning to take these on an 8-day trek through Fiordland NZ, where my feet will be submerged daily, so it will be interesting to see if these handle the wet better than the GTX alternative. These boots are also somewhat unique in that they don't look out of place in the city. Undeniably, these are genuine, tough, backcountry boots, but being the German style, you can absolutely wear these into town without standing out (if that sort of thing matters). After many many pairs of boots, I'm happy to have finally found these.

Built like a tank, this boot feels like it's made to last. Hanwag are not playing around with the Tashi's. Very comfortable straight out of the box, foot sits tight and stable. Very happy with this purchase, hope they live up to the expectations and last as long as they should.

I’m a happy camper! The shoes came in and the fit was perfect (used own methode for establishing exact size, see below). Already using it every day for my walking. A slightly negative point is the hardness of the sole that need to get acquainted with. I’d ordered some red laces with it and the moment they fitted I ‘upgraded’ my wonderful shoes it with the red laces. In my experience, researching EU shoe sizes revealed three different, conflicting standards, making a precise choice nearly impossible. Instead, I developed a practical workaround. I took the insole from my current well-fitting shoe( EU 40) and calculated the necessary growth: adding 6.6 mm for every full EU size up and 3.3 mm for every half EU size. Knowing that the toe box requires a clearance of at least one finger's width (ideally close to two), I simply measured my existing insole and added the required increments to determine the exact internal length needed. I often wonder why this empirical, measurement-based approach isn't the industry standard or more widely published." Note: true correct ‘longest’ foot-length is also recommended in my methode including the 6,6 and 3,3 increments although this is EU based procedure, most fitted insoles can be used as well.
